ROD ACTION

Where the rod bends. Fast action bends at the tip (sensitive, quick hooksets). Slow action bends throughout (forgiving, absorbs shock).

ROD POWER

How much force to bend it. Ultra-light for panfish, Medium for walleye, Heavy for pike and musky.

ROD LENGTH

Shorter = control, Longer = casting distance. 6-7ft is versatile. 5ft for tight spaces, 8ft+ for surf or long casts.
